RT PCR samples are collected from the parts of the body where the COVID-19 virus resides, such as a person’s nose or throat, which requires inserting a swab into the person’s nose or throat to collect the sample. As a reason, there is no need to prepare in advance to undergo the RT PCR test.
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. It was first detected in Wuhan, China, in late 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11, considering 118,000 cases of coronavirus illness in over 110 countries and territories around the world & sustained risk of further global outbreaks.
The WHO stated that fever, dry cough and fatigue are the most common symptoms of a person infected with this virus. Serious symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain or pressure, loss of speech or movement and the less common symptoms are aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste, loss of smell, rashes on the skin, discoloration of fingers or toes.
The probability of virus mutation increases as the virus spreads widely in the population. The greater the number of opportunities for a virus to propagate, the more it replicates as it seeks out new opportunities to mutate.
As per CDC, Center for Disease Control & Prevention, currently four notable variants are Alpha (B.1.1.7), Beta(B.1.351), Gamma(P.1) and Delta(B.1.617.).
· RT-PCR Test (Home Sample Collection): In other words it is also known as “Molecular Test”, where the health care provider will collect the mucus from the throat or nose using a swab. The turnaround time varies from hours to days.

To avoid new variants showing up and to stop spreading the existing variants everyone must follow the instructions that are:
It is recommended for a person to go with RT PCR test if he/she is suffering from any of the Covid 19 symptoms that are listed by WHO or CDC such as fever, dry cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain or pressure, loss of speech or movement, aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste or smell, a rash on the skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes. Also, any individual who has come in contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus should go for this checkup.
Note: The person who has been infected with covid-19 need not go for this RT PCR test again either before discharging from the hospital or a few days after taking medication to know if the virus is still alive.
As soon as the Covid-19 symptoms are observed in a person’s body it is strongly recommended to go for the test. Early medication keeps people away from serious medical conditions and hospitals. This precaution can help prevent us from infecting others.
If someone has had contact with a person suffering from Covid-19 within 10 days of his / her infection, it is advised to go for this test a few days after staying in isolation. This isolation period is allowed to let the virus be exposed to tests if present and also to prevent the virus transmission to others.

Noticing this, RedHeal has come up with a home sample collection of the RT PCR so that you do not risk yourselves or your loved ones being exposed to the deadly virus.
What is RT PCR?

However, it is time-consuming and requires elaborate equipment to test. The test samples are usually taken through nasal or throat swabs. The RT PCR test samples are collected under the observations of an expert healthcare practitioner.

What is the Difference between RT-PCR & Antibody Tests?
RT-PCR is the most accurate and efficient test to detect if there is SARS-CoV-2 virus/Covid-19 in a body whereas the Antibody test can be performed on people who have been infected with Covid-19 or who have recovered from Covid-19 to measure the antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2. This antibody test can also help medical experts to determine whether a person has been infected with this virus at any point of time in the past or not.
What are the different types of Corona Tests available?
Rapid antigen tests: one of the outer proteins of the viral shell is identified to know the presence of Coronavirus. Molecular (or) PCR tests: These tests detect the RNA of the Coronavirus Antibody tests: These tests measure the antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 in a person body.

How exactly is the RT-PCR Test done?
RT-PCR test is done by inserting a swab into the person’s nose or throat to collect the sample. This sample is treated with several chemical solutions that remove substances such as proteins, fats, and extracts. At the end only the RNA is present in the sample. Then new copies of viral DNA are created from each strand of the virus in the sample. The marker labels attach to the DNA strands and then release a fluorescent dye which helps to estimate the presence and severity of the virus infection.
